George McCarron of Haverhill, MA, died peacefully on
April 1, 2021 after a brief illness. George was a Korean War Veteran and an active
member of the American Legion, Veterans Club, Amvets and Veterans of Foreign
Wars. He was a talented craftsman who worked as a bricklayer and was the man
people turned to for questions of gardening, weather, and nature, and he could
fix anything. If he didn’t know the answer to your question, he would search
until he did. He loved to learn new things and often amazed his family with his
excellent memory.
George was the last of ten children born to Marion and Peter McCarron and spent
his early life in Merrimac, MA, later moving to Kingston, NH, with his wife and
children.
After retiring, George got his private pilot’s license and loved flying his
Cessna up and down the east coast. He was an avid pool player and shared his
passion by teaching younger players. He was lucky at cards, often winning at
poker and 45’s. He enjoyed music, travel, birdwatching, fishing and hunting. He
loved snuggling up with his grandson to watch history and nature programs. He
was often described as dapper dresser and took pride in always looking his
best.
George is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Susan and Chris; grandson,
Nate, and several generations of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held in June - details will follow in May. In
lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the High Pointe House in Haverhill,
MA.
