Dominic J. DeFeo, age 98, of Methuen and formerly of Haverhill, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen. He was the husband of the late Frances T. (LaRosa) DeFeo.

Born, raised and educated in Haverhill, the son of the late Samuel and Florence (DiCristofaro) DeFeo. Dominic was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School, and then he began working for Martino’s Auto body. In 1943, he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country in WWII until his honorable discharge in 1946. He was stationed on the LST711. He earned the following medals: WW11 Victory medal, American Theater medal, Asiatic-Pacific medal (2 medals), Philippine liberation (1 medal). Upon his return home, he resumed his work with Martino’s Auto body. He later became employed with the Registry of Motor Vehicles at the Lowell Branch. He began working as an Examiner and at his retirement, some thirty-one years later, he retired as the Assistant to the Deputy Registrar.

Having shared sixty-two wonderful years in marriage with his beloved Frances, Dominic’s foundation was built on family, ever present and loving any opportunity to be with them was most important to him. Sunday family dinners and holiday events were never more important to Dominic. His children always knew that their father was sitting in the bleachers at their athletic events. He enjoyed playing 45’s and his bowling tournaments with his kids at Stadium Lanes in Lawrence. Spending time at Busty’s Garage was also an opportunity for him to enjoy time with his friends. He was an avid sports fan, always following each of the New England Franchises.

In addition to his wife, Frances, Dominic was predeceased by his six siblings, Frances Marinella, Josephine DeSimone, Anthony DeFeo, John DeFeo, Michael DeFeo, and Patrick DeFeo.

He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his children, Donna Potter and her husband Patric of Methuen, MA, William DeFeo of Methuen, MA, Diane McLaughlin and her husband Clifford of Methuen, MA, Susan Kavanagh and her husband Michael of Londonderry, NH, Richard DeFeo and his wife Patricia of Walkertown, NC, Lisa Young and her husband Richard of Methuen, MA, eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
