John honorably served our nation as a Staff Sergeant in The United States Army during World War II.
Haverhill, MA - John B. Foisy, 99, of Haverhill passed away peacefully
at the Cedar View Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Methuen,
Mass. He was the husband of the late Florence R. (Fortier) Foisy. John
was born June 25, 1918, in Dorchester, Mass., the son of the late Victor
and Adelena (DeBlois) Foisy.
He was a lifelong resident of Haverhill, having attended the Walnut
Square School and graduating from Haverhill High School. John honorably
served our nation as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during
World War II. He was a member of the National Guard’s 182nd Infantry and
was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Asiatic-Pacific Service
Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, and the Combat
Infantrymen’s Badge.
Returning from the war John was employed with Lucent Technologies in
North Andover for over 38 years when he retired in 1983. He was a member
of All Saints Parish, a member of VFW Lorraine Post No. 29 in
Haverhill, and a lifelong member of the American Division Veteran’s
Association. He also belonged to the Telephone Pioneers of America.
John is survived by his son, Melvin Foisy and wife Natalie of Lawrence;
two grandsons, Ryan Foisy of Lawrence and Keith Fosiy and wife Kerri of
Methuen. He is also survived by one great-grandchild, Charlotte Rose.
John was predeceased by his son Michael Foisy.
